Crown Dies as they might have appeared before making coins - easy to see how errors were made !
Compilation of die orientations seen on coinage of this period, Most common orientation appears to be 1h and 7 h. suggesting that 12h and 6h was the intention.

en medaille

Die orientation is based on examining around 300 coins from the period, and shows a predominance around both 1 and 7 o’clock, which perhaps suggests that the target for hammered coinage in production was perhaps en medaille or inverted as found on today’s coins around the world. With this predominance, orientation does not appear to be a totally random phenomenon. Maybe this rotational inaccuracy suggests most people were right handed back in those times.
